For this version of prime factoring:

- Write down an inverted division symbol on your paper, place the given number on the inverted division symbol
- Use the rules of divisibility on the original number (or guess) to find the smallest
**prime**number that will divide into the given number. - Place this smallest prime number (identfied in the previous step) to the left of the division symbol.
- Divide the prime number into the given number
- Place the answer under the division symbol
- Place an inverted division symbol around the last answer.
- Use the rules of divisibility on the number (or guess) to find the smallest

# Prime Factorization

Prime factorization. Prime factorization is the process (or task) of finding the prime numbers that can be multiplied together to create the given number. There are many ways to accomplish this task. One method is to use Factor Trees. You can learn to use factor trees to find the prime factorization. Using factor trees can be a fun and visual way to do prime factorization. However, there are other methods. This page explains one alternate method that many people find quicker.

For this version of prime factoring:
