Writing Numbers

Writing/reading whole numbers require you to look at the numbers as grouped by commas.   To read the number:

  1. Start at the right most group
  2. Determine which group it is .... Billion, Million, Thousand
  3. One group at a time, read the grouped digits ... followed by the name of the group

    • Think: 34 Thousand, 567
    • Write: Thirty Four Thousand, Five Hundred Sixty Seven
  2. 745,512
    • Think: 745 Thousand, 512
    • Write: Seven Hundred Forty-Five Thousand, Five Hundred Twelve
  3. 234
    • Think: 234
    • Write: Two Hundred Thirty-Four
  4. 12,623,341
    • Think: 12 Million, 623 Thousand, 341
    • Write: Twelve Million, Six Hundred Twenty-Three Thousand, Three Hundred Forty-One 
  5. 23,255,675,213
    • Think: 23 Billion, 255 Million, 675 Thousand, 213
    • Write: Twenty Three Billion, Two Hundred Fifty-Five Million, Six Hundred Seventy-Five Thousand, Two Hundred Thirteen
